Happy New Years everyone!! I hope you all had an amazing night/holidays and enjoyed a very merry Christmas with your friends and family.
My holidays have been nothing short of amazing. I’ve been learning to surf this summer to make the most of our beautiful Queensland days and even got spoilt with a new surfboard for Christmas!
Whilst I have no idea what weekends I’ll be able to chill at home and get back into sewing, I do know that there are a few items that I would love to check off my list this year!
New Swimmers – Butterick 6358
I’ve never worked with lycra or swimwear material so I feel that this will be a great challenge. Fingers crossed I can make them this summer!
The Remnant Warehouse has some beautiful swimsuit material including this gorgeous hibiscus fabric.
New Summer Dress/Jumpsuit
I’m still testing a number of dress patterns to use up some really beautiful material I have acquired over the years. Over the holidays I created the below New Look 6493 (version C) dress with some interesting results (photos to come). I’m still on the hunt for a drop-waist dress pattern, a shift-dress pattern (Simplicity 8264) and something else fun and girly.
New Work Shirts
I started an amazing new job late last year, so I’ve been slowly growing my work wardrobe. I’ve basically nailed the button-up business shirt with over 15 new shirts added to my wardrobe. Now I would like to add some more pretty tops to my collection like the New Look 6490 and McCalls 7542.
A Couple of Vogue Stunners
When Vogue patterns went on sale last year I had to buy a ton of them. However, when you buy so many it’s really hard to choose which pattern you want to test out first! Since most of these dresses would be ideal for work or a corporate event I’d like to be able to knock out a couple to add to my wardrobe. Here is my shortlist of Vogue patterns (1447, 1393, 1329, 1382, 8805, 1445 and 1484). Not so short is it!
Nifty items for me or friends
Creating some quick, easy sewn items is always rewarding when you’re in-between projects. Craftsy and Pinterest are my two favourite websites for these types of sewing ideas and patterns. Here are a few really cool projects that would be amazing to put on my 2018 list. Including a boxie pouch to store my surf accessories, new cushions for my house, pet beds, bags, slippers and much more!
Image sources and direct links can be found on my Craft Pinterest page.
I can’t guarantee that I’ll stick to these patterns because half of the garments I’ve made this past year haven’t always been the perfect fit, so they were either altered or scrapped completed. However, I’m still determined to find some goodies and share the results with you all.
So, now that I’ve made my 2018 sewing list I hope this also gives you plenty of ideas and inspiration to make your own! What’s on your sewing agenda?!
Happy New Year and Happy Sewing!
